I am John and I have been a farmer practically all my life. I grew up in a family of farmers and our family engaged in both livestock and crop farming. We raised a number of pigs, cows and grew our own fresh vegetables.
We expanded the farm in 1984 and established the Little John’s Plant Farm where we grew a wide range of tomatoes, herbs and peppers. Our greenhouse in Texas housed well over 200 varieties of plants. We had peppers, eggplants and watermelon among other crops that we grew and sold at the Dallas Farmers Market in Dallas, Texas.
After retirement from active farming, I saw it fit to share my vast knowledge in the farming industry with farmers, both seasoned and novice. A family member recommended setting up a website for me and I agreed to it and so http://thediyfarmer.com was created. I am an avid farmer with great experience in the industry and I use my website to pass on the knowledge. I feature unique articles on a wide range of topics and subjects in the farming arena on my website.
I also have a shop for custom made farmer merchandise that you will find handy in your farming endeavors. Feel free to check them out as well.
